Planning a Weekend Away in the UK

The UK has a lot to offer in terms of culture, nature, and beauty. You can visit a different area of the UK and find that it is completely different to a neighbouring county or location. As there is so much to see and do around the UK, you need to plan out where you want to go and what you want to see. To dip your toes into travelling, exploring the country and the countryside, why not look at doing a weekend break? A weekend somewhere new and different refreshes and rejuvenates you and gives you the opportunity to embrace somewhere different!

Weekend break in the UK

Where to Go?

With trains and buses readily accessible, and road networks expanding all of the time, the UK has never been more accessible or easy to navigate. When it comes to knowing where to visit, you have to think about what type of break you want. For example, do you want a countryside experience in the Cotswolds for a relaxing weekend? Or, do you want to be on the go, never standing still in the heart of the capital London. Deciding what type of weekend away you want will help you pin down a location.

Places of Interest to Visit

When you have chosen an area to visit, you will want to explore that location and get the most out of it. Most towns and counties are well-known for something, whether it be one of the must visit UK stately homes or a Victorian factory from days gone by, that is recognised locally and further afield. When you work out the areas and places of interest to visit, you can then start figuring out when to go; for example, should you be planning an Autumn break or end of Summer break?

Accommodation and Lodgings

Where will you stay in your location? Do you want to look for a little boutique hotel? Are you seeking a hosted bed and breakfast, or are you perhaps looking to live with the locals through something such as an air BnB room? Where you stay will impact your impression of the area, and it will affect your enjoyment, so ensure that you stay in accommodation that is true to yourself and that is suited to your personality.

Budget

Travelling to a new destination or location can be expensive, especially if you let costs spiral out of control. Setting a budget as soon as you can ensures that you can afford to do the things you want to do with ease and comfort. When it comes to creating a budget, you need to think about how much you will spend daily on food and drink and how much you will spend on trips, travel, and accommodation. Working out what you will spend will ensure that you get to really see a place and enjoy its beauty without having to worry about money.

Making a Plan

Planning a trip or weekend away can sound tedious, but if you want to get the most out of your 48 hours or 72 hours in a new location, you have to know what you will do and why. Having a rough guide to each day will ensure that you see everything you want to and that you do not waste any time, because as you already know - a weekend quickly passes you by.
