Stone Troughs and Stone Sinks from English Garden Antiques

Stone troughs, sinks and planters are our specialty. The vast majority of our troughs are hundreds of years old, and were crafted by hand.
Made of sandstone, granite, slate and limestone, they come in a variety of shapes and sizes, which reflect their original use- ranging from large D-shaped pump troughs (for traditional village or farm water supplies), oblong animal feed troughs for cattle and horses, to small circular troughs used as mortars and barn supports.

Stone troughs are becoming increasingly popular in garden design as planters and water features (particularly when used with a traditional water pump).
Stone sinks, which are also hundreds of years old and hand carved, were used either in the old farm kitchens or in the farm yard where they were also used as 'salting slabs.' Being much shallower than troughs (3-4in tall) they are ideal planters for alpines.
